Privately held, regulated public utility providing electric power distribution to over 700K residential and commercial customers in the greater Pittsburgh market.

​Represented client's interest by provided independent management, oversight, day-to-day management and quality reviews of the company's largest IT transformational project in over 25 years.  The project represented the first ever successful implementation of the complete suite of Oracle's Utility applications providing Customer Care and Billing, Meter Data Management, Mobile Workforce Management, and related functionality.   Provided technical leadership through Technical Shared Services Group (below) to ensure stable, flexible platform for development, testing, production and disaster recovery systems.  The project was recognized as the most successful implementation of a new utilities software suite in Oracle's history.  

Advanced Meter Initiative (AMI)Vendor RFP & Selection​Lead RFP effort to solicit, evaluate, and choose vendor for the company's SMART Meter deployment initiative.   Negotiated over $7M in savings over prior bids. 
Advanced Meter Initiative (AMI)

​Represented client in managing the company's selected vendors for implementation of their SMART Meter deployment initiative.   Coordinated efforts of software, meter hardware, network and installation vendors for successful pilot and ongoing meter deployment.

Technical Architecture Assessment

​Conducted Technical Architecture review of the ongoing FOCUS Oracle Utilities project implementation.  Identified numerous areas for improvement enabling data integrity, disaster recovery, version management, and database sizing.

Oracle Utility Systems Roadmap​Provided leadership and input for development of a comprehensive 5 year plan to address backlog of Oracle Utility Systems updates and enhancements.  
Public Utility Commission Strategy & Filings​Assisted in development of PUC system delivery strategy and filings.  Leveraged Roadmap (above) in delivery schedule and costs.  
Public Utility Commission Mandated System Enhancements

Managed a number of required PUC mandated enhancements to the newly deployed Oracle Utilities systems.   Programs under 5 Points management were successfully delivered on-time and on-budget.

​Program PMO Implementation & Management

​Implemented and lead PMO charged with management of ongoing Oracle Utilities program.  Developed standardized reporting, financial tracking, resource management and SharePoint based program/project websites to facilitate effective program and project management.

​Technical Shared Services

​Lead Technical Shared Services team charged with supporting multiple, concurrent Oracle Utilities System related projects.   Provided architectural designs and reviews of each system.   Developed procedures for technical support requests.   Implemented configuration management techniques and software to improve efficiency and version control.   Successfully lead effort to reduce costs and improve platform quality on month over month basis.

IT Reorganization

​Lead redesign and implementation of new IT organization.  Developed job descriptions and designed recruiting program to manage staffing of both operational and project roles.
